The BeNe League will be expanded in the coming season, as it welcomes two new teams from Germany for the upcoming season. The club presidents, together with the BeNe League board, made a decision this week about the structure of the 2023-2024 season, in which the competition will be strengthened by the entry of EHC Neuwied and Diez Limburg. This expansion marks an important milestone for the BeNe League competition as it pushes the boundaries of the competition and provides a platform for international collaboration and competition. The addition of the two German teams will further promote the sport and increase the quality of ice hockey in the region. Unfortunately, the BeNe League also had to hear that Zoetermeer Panters has decided not to participate in the competition next season. While regretting their absence, the BeNe League is determined to continue to promote and develop the sport of ice hockey and looks forward to a successful 2023-2024 season.
Imports
In light of the new developments, the clubs have agreed on some important changes to the format of the competition. For the coming season, each club will be allowed to play with a maximum of three imports, while there will be no more status players. These changes are intended to increase competitiveness and provide opportunities for talented players from diverse backgrounds. The BeNe League organization is looking forward to the upcoming season with great anticipation and is determined to offer an exciting and high-quality competition to the fans and supporters in the Netherlands and Belgium. The addition of EHC Neuwied and Diez Limburg will certainly contribute to strengthening the competition and increasing the international image of ice hockey in the region.
Schedule
In the coming weeks, the BeNe League board will consider the details of the competition schedule. Careful consideration will be given to team availability and possible dates of play, with the aim of creating a balanced and attractive schedule that reflects the interests of all clubs and fans.
